These trends are experiencing exponential growth and developing incredible opportunities for financiers. 5G Gadgets Our brand-new 5G (fifth-generation) cordless networks are a subject I've been covering for years now.
Even though the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted supply chains in 2015, a remarkable 250 million 5G-enabled devices were still offered. Specifically in the 2nd quarter, there were supply chain interruptions, making hold-ups, and work stoppages. And all of this ultimately caused Apple delaying the release of the 5G-enabled i, Phone 12 by 2 months.
And that demand is now going to be pressed into 2021. I anticipate that more than 500 million 5G gadgets will be delivered in 2021.
Stage 3 of 5G When I've discussed 5G in the past, I've described its 3 different stages. In Phase One, the facilities of these brand-new networks is constructed out, including all the new towers and fiber-optic circuitry that 5G will need. In Phase 2, 5G gadgets go on sale.
And in Stage 3, 5G services start to be used. That's when we start to see applications running on 5G networks. And my second 5G forecast for 2021 is that we will begin Phase Three by this summer.
But they will care if there are exciting applications that can just be accessed with a 5G phone. So a growing number of customers will head out to buy a 5G phone to gain access to these applications. That leads to more 5G apps being established. In fact, 5G is going to open up a suite of amazing applications: self-driving cars, the Web of Things, robotic surgery, and more.
